About The Artist
Inverted Threads was dreamt up and designed by Katie Skiba, a lifelong creative, aerial coach, and proud homeschool kid raised on paintbrushes and possibility. Before she could write in cursive, she was sketching in the margins of her notebook paper. Her mother, an artist herself, wove creativity into every lesson, turning history into comic strips and literature into living room performances with dramatic curtain calls.
Katie earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Art Institute of Tampa, where she embraced the beautiful chaos of the creative process. While classmates built gallery portfolios, she was staging yoga photoshoots in local parks and designing the branding for her first business: Don’t Be So Vanilla Cupcakes. Each treat was advertised with tiny moody face, equal parts sweet and slightly unhinged. It was bold, messy, and full of heart, much like the work she creates today.
When she found circus, it wasn’t just the movement that hooked her, it was the art of it. The stage became her canvas, and costuming became another form of expression: wearable strength, chaos, and story. That’s how Inverted Threads was established.
Today, Katie runs a gym by day and designs in the times between. Every piece is imagined by hand, sometimes mid-class, sometimes on a napkin, always with purpose.
This isn’t fast fashion. This is what it looks like to show up, upside down and all in.
