There’s No Place Like the Stage
Being in a show is more than just performing - it's about growth, courage, and connection. Just like Dorothy’s journey through Oz, every rehearsal is a step down your own yellow brick road: full of discovery, teamwork, and finding strength you didn’t know you had. Whether you’re spinning in the sky or telling a story with movement for the first time, being part of a show is a chance to shine, build confidence, and create unforgettable memories.
This is your moment to fly - let’s make magic together.
More Performances, More Memories
By expanding to four shows, we’re giving every athlete a longer, richer experience. Instead of all the work building up to just one night, they’ll get multiple chances to perform, adjust, improve, and savor the moment.
This is about more than just logistics. It’s about believing in every athlete. It’s about creating a show where no one is in the shadows. It’s about making space for everyone to grow, to shine, and to tell a story that’s bigger than themselves.
We can’t wait to share Dorothy with you.
Family Night: A Celebration of Everyone
Another big shift is Family Night. Instead of a casual run-through, this will now be a full show experience, where both casts perform back-to-back. This means that teammates will get to see and support each other in a way that hasn’t happened before—cheering on their friends, learning from each other, and feeling the energy of a packed audience before show weekend even begins.
Growth Through Challenge
For our JV performers, this format is a chance to push beyond their comfort zones. Too often, younger or lower-level athletes are in the background, watching their older teammates take on lead roles. Not this time. This time, they get to step into the spotlight, feel the responsibility of carrying a show, and prove to themselves just how much they are capable of.
For our Varsity performers, this structure presents a different kind of challenge—not just technical, but artistic. They’ll refine their skills, bring deeper emotion to their roles, and raise the bar for storytelling through movement. Their job is no longer just to perform—it’s to inspire.
A More Intimate Cast Means a Bigger Spotlight
Another reason for this shift is to showcase every performer more fully. With a smaller cast in each show, we can create more space on stage, more individual moments, and more opportunities for each athlete to be seen.
Often, in large productions, athletes only appear in one or two pieces. In Dorothy, we want to double up roles where possible, allowing performers who are in a group routine to also shine in a duo, solo, or specialty act. This gives every athlete more time in the air and more chances to feel the excitement of performing.
More Lead Roles, More Chances to Shine
Casting a single show has always meant making hard choices—choosing just one athlete for each lead role and, inevitably, leaving some incredibly talented performers in supporting positions. By splitting the show into two casts, more athletes get the chance to take center stage. Our JV performers won’t have to compete with higher-level athletes for leading roles; they get to step forward, take ownership of the story, and experience what it means to be the star of a full production.
Why Two Casts? Why Four Shows?
For the first time, Dorothy will be performed as two separate productions—one featuring our JV cast (Level 400 & under) and one featuring our Varsity cast. This decision wasn’t made for convenience; it was made with heart. It was made for opportunity, for growth, and for the chance to highlight every athlete in a way that makes this show truly special.
